BAPTISM

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."                                                                                                    Matthew 28:19 (NIV)

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward grace.  The act of baptism does not save us, but we do it to show the world that we are saved and not ashamed.

Here, at Cypress, we baptize by immersion.  As you go under the water, your former life without Christ is dead and buried.  When you are brought up from the water, you are raised to new life in the spirit.  The water also represents the washing of our sins.

We will be offering believers' baptisms during our annual Summer Celebration on Sunday, August 24th.  This will be an outdoor service.  All adults, youth, and those 5th graders who have completed the catechism class are welcome to participate in this service.

There is an informational meeting (about 30 minutes long) you MUST attend in order to participate in the August 24 baptism.  You have a choce of 2 meeting times: Saturday, August 9, immediately following the 6:00 service and Sunday, August 17, at 11:00am.  Both meetings will be held in the Fireside Room (through the double doors across from the lobby restrooms -- continue until you arrive in the room with a fireplace).

If you have questions concerning baptism, call the church office, ext. 238, and talk to Debbie Brisentine.  You may also click here to sign up for the service.  .
